In this photo we are learning how to count in Chinese by jumping to the number that our teacher would call out in Chinese. And beforehand we all wrote our own paper of numbers to jump on, so this way we could also practice writing. Every time we would do a round, the people who jumped or ran to the wrong number would get out. If you got them all right, you would earn a point, and in the end, we would count who had the most points, and the winner would get a prize.
For every new set of words we would learn, our teacher at the beginning of class would make us play a game involving those words to help us remember them. These games helped me understand the words more, and they would always be different to help us with either reading, writing, or speaking.
Also, when we were learning numbers, we did an assembly for our school to show what we had learned. We all made the presentation not just about numbers, but about what we had learned so far. For example, we talked about what numbers were lucky, like the number 8, and that the number 4 was unlucky. Also, in the games, we would learn pinyin and also how to write without pinyin as well.
In my Chinese class, we learned so many words, and many of those words we learned through the games. I think this was one of the many ways we understood Chinese better, as we learned more words and played more games to help us improve our understanding of the Chinese language.
